David Benjamin

In 1997, David Benjamin sold Community Pacific Broadcasting Company L.P. – which he co-founded in 1974 – to Capstar Broadcasting Partners, where he also served as a managing director. Capstar was publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange before it merged with Clear Channel Communications.
Prior to 1974 David served as a broadcasting consultant in New York and was assistant to the publisher of Fortune magazine.
He has served as a board member of the National Association of Broadcasters as well as the California Broadcasters’ Association. He is a former president of the Oregon Association of Broadcasters and is currently a member of the board of trustees of the Radio Advertising Bureau in New York City.
David serves as a trustee of the Panetta Institute for Public Policy in Seaside, Calif., the Monterey Institute of International Studies, an affiliate of Middlebury College in Vermont and the Stevenson School in Pebble Beach, Calif. In addition, he is a former chairman of the board of trustees of the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula and is a former president of the Community Foundation for Monterey County.
David holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA from Yale University. He and his wife, Laurie – both natives of Kansas City, Mo. – reside in Carmel Valley, Calif.
